We are the Writers Room and we are looking for screenwriters like you. We are a sundry collection of writers who have come together to sharpen our tools, find an audience worth getting notes from, and foster our shared ambitions.

Founded in 2022, The Writers Room is the realization of a big dream and a simple need: A ground level entry point for aspiring screenwriters to build their careers and a place for professionals to build their community
Los Angeles is a disparate, distant, and transient place, but it isn't those hurdles that keep like-minded writers from finding their scene. It's the art-economics of a medium that requires tens of people and tens of thousands of dollars to bring one single work to life.
Lost on the page of that grand call sheet in the sky is recognition that a screenplay is its own work of art, and one that does not require an army to assemble or the permission of the powers that be to be made.
The Writers Room is here to change that paradigm and recognize the screenwriter as an artist in full.
Creative Environment: Our group is a safe and inclusive space where writers of all levels, genres, and backgrounds can come together to share their work, ideas, and experiences. We encourage open dialogue, constructive feedback, and a supportive atmosphere that nurtures growth and exploration.
Table Reads and Coverage: We organize regular table reads where members can present their works-in-progress with the aim to hear their work, overcome challenges, and refine their craft. Group coverage provides valuable feedback and allows the writer to gage their works effectiveness.
Writing Prompts and Challenges: We understand that sometimes all it takes is a little push to get the creative juices flowing. Our group regularly shares writing prompts and challenges to help spark inspiration and encourage experimentation. These prompts serve as a springboard for new ideas and push our boundaries as writers.
Networking Opportunities: The Writers Room offers a platform for members to connect with fellow writers, form meaningful relationships, and build a strong network within the writing community. We believe in the power of collaboration and support, and through our group, writers can find potential critique partners, beta readers, and even lifelong writing buddies.
Guest Speakers and Author Events: We believe in continuous learning and drawing inspiration from experienced writers and industry professionals. Throughout the year, we host guest speakers and organize author events where established authors share their insights, experiences, and tips for success.
Writing Resources: Our group aims to provide a wealth of resources to support writers in their screenwriting journeys. From sharing information on writing competitions, literary agents, and film market opportunities to recommending helpful books and online tools, we strive to equip our members with the knowledge and tools they need to navigate the ever-changing landscape of the modern fil, world.
Online Community: In addition to in-person events and meetings, we maintain an active online community where members can connect, share their work, seek advice, and participate in discussions. This virtual space ensures that our writers can stay engaged and connected even when they are unable to attend physical meetings.
